NL Daily Prayer Focus
Starting Monday, March 30 and continuing every day during the suspension of services due to the cancellation of large gatherings because of COVID-19, we bring you The NL Daily Prayer Focus.  Each afternoon at 2pm we’ll post a prayer focus for the day.  We’ll alternate between themes to pray for and people groups to pray for, and Sundays we’ll pick up on our tradition from our Sunday morning bulletins and pray for the nations. So each Sunday we’ll have a different country in the world to pray for.

We challenge you to participate each day with us as we pray for ourselves, our families and friends, our community and the world.  Commit as much time to this as works for you – if that’s 30 seconds, great, if that’s 3 hours, awesome!  Do what works for you.  These images will be published here for those who do not have access to Facebook or Instagram, but please do follow the posts on Social Media too.  We hope to interact with you, share how we’re praying for each other, and we encourage you to share the post on your social accounts too, it doesn’t just have to be our church family that’s praying!

Today let’s lift up Homeless Services in prayer. Being homeless in this season of life is not easy, neither is trying to find ways to service and help them! Pray for existing programs to be able to still make a difference and be able to maintain the funding they need to operate successfully.

A good verse to meditate on for Homeless Services: “Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.” Psalm 82:3

Today we pray together for understanding. Pray for everyone to be more open-minded and accepting of other points of view. Pray for people to respect other’s points of view, even if they don’t agree. Pray for understanding of rules and restrictions in this time of COVID-19.

A good verse to meditate on for Understanding: “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:6

Prayer Focus May 24 2020

Our Sunday Pray for the Nations today has us focusing on the United Kingdom. One of the countries hardest hit by deaths due to COVID-19.

Pray for the nation’s leaders to put in place the right restrictions to control the virus, and the right “lightening up” measures at the right times. Pray for their population to heed the advice of its leaders and stay as healthy and strong as possible. Pray for the many who have been affected by deaths of friends or loved ones during a time when “normal” responses to death are so restricted.

Prayer Focus May 23 2020

Today we pray for the Retired. Pray for loneliness as many retired people live alone or with few others. Pray for financial stability as many rely on investment income that may be heavily fluctuating in today’s economy. Pray for trust in God to meet all their needs physically, emotionally and spiritually.

A good verse to meditate on for the Retired: “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8

Prayer Focus May 22 2020

Today pray for strength, physical strength which is so important for ongoing health. During times of isolation it is hard to stay motivated to continue to strengthen our bodies – pray for that motivation! Pray God can increase our strength and help us to keep our bodies and immune systems healthy.

A good verse to meditate on for strength: “May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace!” Psalm 29:11

Prayer Focus May 21 2020

Today we pray for the Tourism Industry. So many countries and communities around the world heavily rely on tourism and their economy is hurting right now due to the lack of it. Pray for the tourism industry globally to recover well from this pandemic and have creativity during this time to get through as best as possible.

A good verse to meditate on for the Tourism Industry: “The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth he has given to mankind.” Psalm 115:16

Prayer Focus May 20 2020

Today we pray together for creativity. During times of change and stress it’s so easy to seek “normal” and not embrace new things as a way to seek comfort. Pray for people to be creative in how they approach new things right now and to EMBRACE creativity! Pray for the Spirit to spark our creativity.

A good verse to meditate on for creativity: “and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship” Exodus 35:31

Prayer Focus May 19 2020

Today let’s lift up Home Cleaners in prayer. Many are unemployed right now due to COVID-19 and some have extra stresses due to more intensive cleaning being needed, personal protective equipment being needed, and so many other changes. Pray for them to make it through this crisis.

A good verse to meditate on for Home Cleaners: “Even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:28

Prayer Focus May 18 2020

Today we pray together for knowledge. Pray for all of us to seek knowledge to keep away fear. Pray for knowledge of how to live amidst this pandemic wisely. Pray for knowledge to keep away mis-information about the virus.

A good verse to meditate on for Knowledge: “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2

Our Sunday Pray for the Nations today has us focusing on Costa Rica. Praise God for his protection so far of this small country that has not been hard hit with infection of COVID-19.

Pray for continued health for the nation and wisdom for its government to continue to protect its population. Pray for the population to heed direction from its leaders for their lives during this time. Pray also for missionaries within the country as they navigate the technicalities of being there, still find great ways to reach their communities for the Lord, and to stay positive and motivated.
