NL Daily Prayer Focus
Starting Monday, March 30 and continuing every day during the suspension of services due to the cancellation of large gatherings because of COVID-19, we bring you The NL Daily Prayer Focus.  Each afternoon at 2pm we’ll post a prayer focus for the day.  We’ll alternate between themes to pray for and people groups to pray for, and Sundays we’ll pick up on our tradition from our Sunday morning bulletins and pray for the nations. So each Sunday we’ll have a different country in the world to pray for.
We challenge you to participate each day with us as we pray for ourselves, our families and friends, our community and the world.  Commit as much time to this as works for you – if that’s 30 seconds, great, if that’s 3 hours, awesome!  Do what works for you.  These images will be published here for those who do not have access to Facebook or Instagram, but please do follow the posts on Social Media too.  We hope to interact with you, share how we’re praying for each other, and we encourage you to share the post on your social accounts too, it doesn’t just have to be our church family that’s praying!

Prayer Focus June 6 2020

Today we pray for our churches and those around the world. Pray for wisdom at they move forward during this pandemic to know how much to open, how to do it, and overall the best way to move forward to serve their people. Pray for the church to flourish and grow because of our current circumstances and for it to be a lasting change for many. Pray also that churches can embrace this “new” church and become stronger and not have to close.
A good verse to meditate on for churches: “For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.” 1 Corinthians 3:9

Prayer Focus June 5 2020

Today pray for clarity. So many around the world face such confusion and unknown and uncertainty; pray for God to wipe that all aside and provide clarity. Clarity for next steps in life be that employment, how to juggle finances, how to manage children, and so much more. Pray for people to seek God for this clarity and take the time to listen for His answers and heed them.
A good verse to meditate on for clarity: “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5

Prayer Focus June 4 2020

Today we pray for Summer Camps; in our community and around the world. With restrictions on group sizes which have effectively shuttered summer camps for the year. Pray that God will provide in amazing ways to allow as many camps as possible to survive this mountain of a challenge. Most already are on exceptionally lean budgets, to take away their main source of revenue puts many in seemingly impossible places. Pray for the camp staff, many of which have been laid off. Pray for staff/camp boards as they make decisions for the future that they seek and follow God’s direction.
A good verse to meditate on for Summer Camps: “Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14

Prayer Focus June 3 2020

Today we pray together for neighbourliness. During a time of encouraged isolation, pray that God gives us the opportunities to responsibly reach out to help those who are our “neighbours” – of whatever type of neighbour that may be! Pray that He also grants us the courage to interact and the health to as well. Pray for God’s light to shine through us and for the neighbours we help to see God’s hands and love by what we do.
A good verse to meditate on for neighbourliness: “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” John 15:12

Prayer Focus June 2 2020

Today let’s lift up Counselors in prayer. A heavy job at the best of times, compounded by the pandemic we’re in right now. Pray they can handle the extra load and that those that need access to them are able to get it. Pray for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health for counselors and that they would rely on or turn to God for strength.
A good verse to meditate on for Counselors: “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” 2 Timothy 3:16

Prayer Focus June 1 2020

Today we pray together for compassion. Compassion for those who are suffering right now, COVID-19 related or not. Pray that we can remember to think of others and have care and concern for them when it’s so easy to just focus on our own worries. Pray that we are also given opportunities to show compassion to others.
A good verse to meditate on for compassion: “This is what the LORD Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another.” Zechariah 7:9

Prayer Focus May 31 2020

Our Sunday Pray for the Nations today has us focusing on Guatemala. Praise that they are thankfully not hard hit at this point in time by the ongoing pandemic, but do pray for them as it’s still a concern as so much of the country is remote with little access to health care and, in many areas, not great sanitation.
Pray also for our partner community of Acul through Food for the Hungry Canada. Outside of prayers during this pandemic we pray for their continued progress towards being a thriving community. Pray that education still flourishes for their children and youth, as well as the adults in the community who are learning new tools to live a healthier life in so many ways.

Prayer Focus May 30 2020

Today we pray for our Pastors. Already a role that takes dedication and so much effort – now even more so. Shepherding a church family, and possibly staff as well, during a pandemic is something likely none have trained for. Pray for open-mindedness, willingness to try new things and embrace the changing times, all while relying on God for the strength and knowledge to do it well and according to His ultimate plan.
A good verse to meditate on for Pastors: “Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.” Jeremiah 3:15

Prayer Focus May 29 2020

Today pray for endurance. Pray for endurance to emotionally and physically be able weather this pandemic. Pray for spiritual endurance and that we remember to turn to God and rely on Him to give us the strength we need to get through this time.
A good verse to meditate on for endurance: “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” Hebrews 10:36

Prayer Focus May 28 2020

Today we pray for our Prime Minister. Pray for wisdom and humility to lead us well and heed the advice of his advisors. Pray for the people of our nation to be supportive and respectful to him as our leader. Pray for his continued health during this trying time.

A good verse to meditate on for our Prime Minister: “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority…” 1 Timothy 2:1-2a
