NL Daily Prayer Focus
Starting Monday, March 30 and continuing every day during the suspension of services due to the cancellation of large gatherings because of COVID-19, we bring you The NL Daily Prayer Focus.  Each afternoon at 2pm we’ll post a prayer focus for the day.  We’ll alternate between themes to pray for and people groups to pray for, and Sundays we’ll pick up on our tradition from our Sunday morning bulletins and pray for the nations. So each Sunday we’ll have a different country in the world to pray for.

We challenge you to participate each day with us as we pray for ourselves, our families and friends, our community and the world.  Commit as much time to this as works for you – if that’s 30 seconds, great, if that’s 3 hours, awesome!  Do what works for you.  These images will be published here for those who do not have access to Facebook or Instagram, but please do follow the posts on Social Media too.  We hope to interact with you, share how we’re praying for each other, and we encourage you to share the post on your social accounts too, it doesn’t just have to be our church family that’s praying!

Our Sunday Pray for the Nations today has us focusing on Brazil. A nation hard hit with some of the highest amount of cases of COVID-19 in the world.

Pray that they would be able to handle the amount of sick they have and not have unnecessary deaths due to overcrowded hospitals. Pray they can implement measures that work to reduce the number of sick and dying and that their population will adhere to the guidelines to carry it out.

Today we pray for care home workers. As they work with the most vulnerable segment of the population, pray for their carefulness, commitment, stamina and health. Pray for them to have genuine care for those they’re helping at work each day. Pray for those who are working less hours while they’re limited to one facility, that they are able to financially survive this time.

A good verse to meditate on for Care-Home Workers: “Stand up in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the Lord.” Leviticus 19:32

Today pray for fellowship. Fellowship in a time of separation. Pray that we can find ways to have spirit-feeding fellowship even when we’re being told to stay mostly apart. Pray that we work hard to seek fellowship in safe ways and not just hide alone at home. Pray that our churches continually help set up great fellowship opportunities.

A good verse to meditate on for Fellowship: “complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.” Philippians 2:2

Today let’s lift up Doctors in prayer. An already demanding career that now has to both handle a pandemic and those with other sicknesses and ailments. Please pray for them to have wisdom to know when someone needs urgent care and when it can wait. Pray for their health and protection for the virus so they can continue to help others. Pray for stamina too.

Our Sunday Pray for the Nations today has us focusing on Russia. While percentage of COVID-19 deaths is quite low relative to their population, the number of cases the nation has had is one of the highest in the world. Pray that the can continue to successfully treat their sick to avoid deaths.

Pray for a nation that relies heavily on exports like oil and minerals to survive well while many energy items are at historically low prices. The largest country in the world geographically, and one of the largest population wise, the health of this nation affects so many.

Today we pray for our churches and those around the world. Pray for wisdom at they move forward during this pandemic to know how much to open, how to do it, and overall the best way to move forward to serve their people. Today pray for clarity. So many around the world face such confusion and unknown and uncertainty; pray for God to wipe that all aside and provide clarity. Clarity for next steps in life be that employment, how to juggle finances, how to manage children, and so much more. Pray for people to seek God for this clarity and take the time to listen for His answers and heed them.

A good verse to meditate on for clarity: “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5
