NL Daily Prayer Focus
Starting Monday, March 30 and continuing every day during the suspension of services due to the cancellation of large gatherings because of COVID-19, we bring you The NL Daily Prayer Focus.  Each afternoon at 2pm we’ll post a prayer focus for the day.  We’ll alternate between themes to pray for and people groups to pray for, and Sundays we’ll pick up on our tradition from our Sunday morning bulletins and pray for the nations. So each Sunday we’ll have a different country in the world to pray for.
We challenge you to participate each day with us as we pray for ourselves, our families and friends, our community and the world.  Commit as much time to this as works for you – if that’s 30 seconds, great, if that’s 3 hours, awesome!  Do what works for you.  These images will be published here for those who do not have access to Facebook or Instagram, but please do follow the posts on Social Media too.  We hope to interact with you, share how we’re praying for each other, and we encourage you to share the post on your social accounts too, it doesn’t just have to be our church family that’s praying!

Prayer Focus April 26 2020

Our Sunday Pray for the Nations today has us focusing on Spain. Another of the earlier countries to be hard hit by deaths due to the coronavirus.
Pray for those in the nation to continue to trust and listen to the leaders of the country, and for those leading the country to have wisdom for how best to lead their people. Pray for the medical system to be able to keep up with the high demands.

Prayer Focus April 25 2020

Today we pray for Teachers. Pray for strength, determination and knowledge as they shepherd our children and youth in ways many of them never have before. Pray as they learn new things and technologies to connect with their students.
A good verse to meditate on for Teachers: “shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly” 1 Peter 5:2

Prayer Focus April 24 2020

Today pray for love. Pray for God’s love to shine through to those who desperately need it. Pray for Christians to open themselves up to be God’s love to their communities.
A good verse to meditate on for steadfastness: “So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13

Prayer Focus April 23 2020

Today we pray for our Children and Youth. Pray for stability amidst so much change. Pray that they have people they can reach out to and rely on for love and care and the courage to do so. Pray for them to flourish under pressure.
A good verse to meditate on for our Children and Youth: “But Jesus called them to him, saying, ‘Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.'” Luke 18:16

Prayer Focus April 22 2020

Today we pray together for courage. Pray for courage for those in front-line work positions. Courage for those facing uncertainty. Courage for those facing so many new things that they’re getting weary. Pray for courage that we can share with others through God’s strength.
A good verse to meditate on for courage: “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

Prayer Focus April 21 2020

Today let’s lift up the Elderly in our community and around the world. One of the most vulnerable demographics in our population for COVID-19. Pray for peace instead of anxiousness, health instead of sickness, and comfort instead of loneliness.
A good verse to meditate on for our Elderly: “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.” Exodus 20:12

Prayer Focus April 20 2020

Today we pray together for kindness. Pray for God to help us be kind despite trying circumstances. Pray for us to intentionally share our kindness with others around us and for God to present opportunities for us to do so.
A good verse to meditate on for Kindness: “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32

Prayer Focus April 19 2020

Our Sunday Pray for the Nations today has us focusing on Italy. One of the countries to be hardest hit by deaths due to COVID-19 partly because of its elderly population.
Pray for the elderly in the country to stay safe an healthy. Pray for their medical system to be able to catch up to the needs of its people so the medical staff don’t have to choose which patients to save or not. Pray for God’s peace to fall on the nation to settle them in a time of fear.

Prayer Focus April 18 2020

Today we pray for the homeless in our community and around the world. It’s not a good place to be during regular times, but now when so many public places are being shut down it’s even more challenging. Pray for stability for those already with so much uncertainty in life. Pray for health and stamina during all the change.
A good verse to meditate on for the Homeless: “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1

Prayer Focus April 17 2020

Today pray for steadfastness. Pray for unwavering faith in the Lord to sustain us in this hard time. Pray for those without the steadfast foundation of the Lord to see it in others and desire it for themselves.
A good verse to meditate on for steadfastness: “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23
