NL Daily Prayer Focus
Starting Monday, March 30 and continuing every day during the suspension of services due to the cancellation of large gatherings because of COVID-19, we bring you The NL Daily Prayer Focus.  Each afternoon at 2pm we’ll post a prayer focus for the day.  We’ll alternate between themes to pray for and people groups to pray for, and Sundays we’ll pick up on our tradition from our Sunday morning bulletins and pray for the nations. So each Sunday we’ll have a different country in the world to pray for.

We challenge you to participate each day with us as we pray for ourselves, our families and friends, our community and the world.  Commit as much time to this as works for you – if that’s 30 seconds, great, if that’s 3 hours, awesome!  Do what works for you.  These images will be published here for those who do not have access to Facebook or Instagram, but please do follow the posts on Social Media too.  We hope to interact with you, share how we’re praying for each other, and we encourage you to share the post on your social accounts too, it doesn’t just have to be our church family that’s praying!

Today we pray for Pharmacists. Part of our dedicated front-line workers. A trusted resource at the best of times are now a lifeline for so many. Pray for their wisdom and knowledge as they deal with the sick and maintaining the healthy each day. Pray for their own health and wellness as they work hard serving others. Pray for those who are Christians to be able to share that hope in all they do.

A good verse to meditate on for Pharmacists: “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.” James 1:2-3

Today we pray together for empowerment. That we would lean into the power that we have through the Holy Spirit during times of trial and frustration. Pray that we also use His power during good times to make them even more powerful. Pray for God’s power to be so evident in His people that it draws more and more people to a life-giving relationship with Him.

Today let’s lift up Flight Crews in prayer. With SO MUCH less travel due to COVID-19 MANY in the industry are now jobless with unsure prospects of returning. Those who are working still work in conditions that could so easily lead to transmission. Pray for those unemployed to find new options or be able to get back to work. Pray for those still active to be able to stay safe, strong and healthy. Pray for their customers to have extra grace and patience dealing with them.

A good verse to meditate on for Flight Crews: “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!” Psalm 34:8

Today we pray together for loyalty. Loyalty to Jesus Christ, and loyalty to our friends and family. Pray that, in hard times and good times, we remember to trust in the Lord. Praise Him when times go well, and lean on His strength to sustain us when times are hard. Pray also that we are loyal and reliable with our friends, family neighbours, community and beyond. That we are people of integrity that can be a shining light for the Lord in all we do. That through our love, kindness and undeniable joy we are unmistakably Christians – mirrors of Jesus Christ.

A good verse to meditate on for loyalty: “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13

Prayer Focus August 9 2020

Our Sunday Pray for the Nations today has us focusing on Lebanon. Devastatingly hit earlier this week with a horrible explosion causing many casualties and injuries. Pray for the city of Beirut where the explosion hit and that they have the capacity to care for the dead and injured, and that they can rebuild as efficiently as possible.

This nation was already struggling so much before the blast; suffering from an economic crisis widely blamed on the political class and all exacerbated by the effects of COVID-19. Unemployment was skyrocketing, local currency was was collapsing which affected the savings of many in the nation – all making the task of rebuilding that much more daunting. Pray that despite all the challenges that exist that they can rebuild and grow stronger as a nation and that it will draw many to a life-giving faith in Jesus Christ.

Today we pray for Veterans. Particularly during this time where the older generations among us are at higher risk of being hardest hit by COVID-19 and most veterans are in the older age categories. Pray for their strength and health during this time. Many also suffer from different mental effects of having been at war and that can be exacerbated by some of the protective measures for COVID-19. Pray for the love and strength of the Lord to be sustaining for them and that many would turn to Him for their needs.

A good verse to meditate on for Veterans: “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!” Psalm 107:1

Prayer Focus August 7 2020

Today pray for determination. Determination to continue in an active relationship with Christ. Pray for motivation to pray, to read our Bible, to seek out community and fellowship, and to keep our relationship with Jesus deepening. Pray that the stresses of life help us to lean more on the Lord instead of pulling us away from the disciplines that strengthen our connection to Him.

A good verse to meditate on for Determination: “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.” 2 Corinthians 4:16

Today we pray for Health Scientists. During the time of an international virus, we pray for God to work miraculously through the hands of the many health scientists throughout the world to find a vaccine. Pray for their health, energy, creativity and wisdom as they approach this new virus. Pray for a speedy solution that passes health authority approval.

A good verse to meditate on for Health Scientists: “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:58

Today we pray together to thank the Lord for His faithfulness. Faithfulness that outlasts and hurt, challenge, mountain, valley, and right now, pandemic. Pray that we remember to rest in His faithfulness. Pray for those not in a relationship with Jesus to be drawn to him because of this reliable faithfulness.

A good verse to meditate on for faithfulness: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23

Pray for their health and safety as they work. Pray for patients for their clients who come to see them and understanding for changes in practices.
