NL Daily Prayer Focus
Starting Monday, March 30 and continuing every day during the suspension of services due to the cancellation of large gatherings because of COVID-19, we bring you The NL Daily Prayer Focus.  Each afternoon at 2pm we’ll post a prayer focus for the day.  We’ll alternate between themes to pray for and people groups to pray for, and Sundays we’ll pick up on our tradition from our Sunday morning bulletins and pray for the nations. So each Sunday we’ll have a different country in the world to pray for.

We challenge you to participate each day with us as we pray for ourselves, our families and friends, our community and the world.  Commit as much time to this as works for you – if that’s 30 seconds, great, if that’s 3 hours, awesome!  Do what works for you.  These images will be published here for those who do not have access to Facebook or Instagram, but please do follow the posts on Social Media too.  We hope to interact with you, share how we’re praying for each other, and we encourage you to share the post on your social accounts too, it doesn’t just have to be our church family that’s praying!

Prayer Focus July 5 2020

Our Sunday Pray for the Nations today has us focusing on India. One of the countries hardest hit by COVID-19 cases, much due to a very dense population. Pray for the health, safety and resilience of its people and that their medical system can manage their sick.

Apart from COVID-19, we also pray for many to turn to the Lord, as about only 6% of the nation are Christians. Pray also for a stable, reliable and non-corrupt government system to lead them well. Also that the division of poor and rich would not be so prevalent, a by-product of the caste system that has been a large part of the country for much of its history. Pray the nation would continue to move more and more away from the castes and to a more peaceful and equal existence.

Today we pray for Search and Rescue teams. With summertime pulling many outside, and social distancing having many going to more remote recreation destinations, this can lead to more times that SAR teams are needed. Pray for wisdom for those of us out in the wilderness to avoid the need of SAR teams. Pray also for wisdom for SAR teams when their services are needed and guidance when they look for anyone lost. Pray for safety for the teams and those they look for.

A good verse to meditate on for Search and Rescue teams: “Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress.” Psalm 107:28

Today pray for Excitement. During a time that is heavy, dark, negative and many other hard emotions – we pray for excitement and joy. Pray that God provides us many blessing during this time and helps us to see them and delight in them. Pray that God uses this hard time to draw us to Him and through this closeness, that we would be excited about all that He can do – even amidst trials.

A good verse to meditate on for Excitement: “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

Today we pray for Young Adults. During a time of life when foundations are solidified it can be unnerving to be in such a fluid and unsettled time. Pray for employment: to continue or for new opportunities. Pray for stable finances. Pray for reliance on God to get them through all the ups and downs and all the emotions and trials that come with them.

A good verse to meditate on for Young Adults: “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him” 2 Chronicles 16:9a

Prayer Focus July 1 2020

Today we pray together for appreciation; appreciation of the many blessings God has given us. Pray that God would help us to see the numerous blessings He’s bestowed on us. Pray that we focus on these blessings and not on the hard times. Pray that enjoying these blessing will remind us to turn to Him with our thanks and our praise. Pray that blessings can turn non-believers to faith in Christ.

A good verse to meditate on for Appreciation: “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17

Today let’s lift up Spouses in prayer. A time of forced togetherness can be a blessing for many, but can also lead to unhealthy traits being magnified. Pray for love to abound, patience in plenty, and growth together in relationship between spouses and with the Lord. Pray for those in strained relationships for this to be a healing time and not a time of abuse or fear; pray for safety, wisdom and provision for those in hard situations.

A good verse to meditate on for Spouses: “Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart.” Proverbs 3:3

Prayer Focus June 29 2020

Today we pray together for fun. Now that summertime is underway, children are officially on break from school, we enter a time that is generally intended to be lighthearted and fun – but still seems so unsettled and unknown. Pray for peace from God to settle our anxieties so we can truly enjoy this time of year and HAVE FUN! Pray for our children and youth to be able to enjoy this summer and make many wonderful, lasting memories to cherish for a lifetime.

A good verse to meditate on for fun: “There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God” Ecclesiastes 2:24

Prayer Focus June 28 2020

Our Sunday Pray for the Nations today has us focusing on South Africa. A nation that has taken COVID-19 very seriously and imposed strict lock-downs on many parts of life in its nation. Pray for those living in the tight lock-downs for patience and amidst it all, respect for their country leaders. Pray for divisions caused by this leading to racism and other unrest, that it would calm.

Apart from COVID-19, the country is predominantly Christian, with over 75% of the population being believers. Pray that this can be a light to others in the country, and that it strengthens those who are Christians as well.

Prayer Focus June 27 2020

Today we pray for daycamp workers. With all of the extra pressures social distancing brings it can be exceptionally challenging while caring for and entertaining children. Pray for them to have wisdom, creativity, boundless energy and love for the children they’ll be working with. Pray for grace for the parents interacting with them during these different times.

A good verse to meditate on for Daycamp Workers: “Children are a blessing and a gift from the Lord.” Psalm 127:3

Today pray for Devotion. Pray that these times of trials would lead people to Christ and those who already have a relationship with Him to a deeper relationship with Him. Pray that this would turn many to a steadfast devotion that would be a light to others they interact with.

A good verse to meditate on for Devotion: “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
