NL Daily Prayer Focus
Starting Monday, March 30 and continuing every day during the suspension of services due to the cancellation of large gatherings because of COVID-19, we bring you The NL Daily Prayer Focus.  Each afternoon at 2pm we’ll post a prayer focus for the day.  We’ll alternate between themes to pray for and people groups to pray for, and Sundays we’ll pick up on our tradition from our Sunday morning bulletins and pray for the nations. So each Sunday we’ll have a different country in the world to pray for.

We challenge you to participate each day with us as we pray for ourselves, our families and friends, our community and the world.  Commit as much time to this as works for you – if that’s 30 seconds, great, if that’s 3 hours, awesome!  Do what works for you.  These images will be published here for those who do not have access to Facebook or Instagram, but please do follow the posts on Social Media too.  We hope to interact with you, share how we’re praying for each other, and we encourage you to share the post on your social accounts too, it doesn’t just have to be our church family that’s praying!

Prayer Focus July 13 2020

Today we pray together for relaxation. During a season of life when people are either run off their feet and too busy to relax, or are in a time of unemployment and perhaps the stress seems too heavy to relax. Pray that whatever the circumstances that God grants us the relaxation, peace and tranquility we need to stay healthy physically, emotionally and spiritually. Pray that we remember the importance of self-care during a time where it can be so easy to focus on the craziness of life.

A good verse to meditate on for relaxation: “After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church” Ephesians 5:29

Our Sunday Pray for the Nations today has us focusing on Mexico. Just a few months ago our Youth Ministry had planned to go on a mission trip to Mexico with One Life One Chance (OLOC) Ministry and the day they were slated to leave was the day after international travel was shut down. Pray for those who they were scheduled to interact with to still feel the Lord’s blessing even in their absence, and pray for the OLOC ministry to continue to be able to serve many in need.

Pray also for the love of Christ to spread through the nation. While over 95% of the nation claims Christian faith, this faith is so often shrouded by religious practices that are culturally ingrained. This can lead to persecution of evangelicals that choose to not take part in the practices because of their religious tie-ins that don’t align with their beliefs. Pray for acceptance and understanding and that through it all the truth and love of Christ will reign.

Pray also for relations between Mexico and one of their largest trading partners, the USA, to improve and not be so strained.

Prayer Focus July 11 2020

Today we pray for the Film Industry. This large part of the Pacific Northwest economy that had to shut down for so long like many other industries and businesses. As things begin to slowly reopen for them pray for those in the industry to have wisdom for how best to keep themselves and their fellow workers safe. Pray that as many as possible can resume employment to be able to provide an income for their families. Pray for those in the industry that are Christians to shine brightly for the Lord during this time.

A good verse to meditate on for the Film Industry: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Prayer Focus July 10 2020

Today pray for Focus. In a time of chaos and what can seem like endless important tasks demanding our attention – focus for what matters. Pray that we can keep our focus on the Lord and trust in His plan. Focus on life-giving things and not life-draining things. Focus on the positive and uplifting not the negative. Focus to remain on task and effective instead of distracted and unaccomplished.

A good verse to meditate on for focus: “Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.” Proverbs 4:25

Prayer Focus July 9 2020

Today we pray for Tour Drivers. With in-province tourism options opening up more and more, many tour drivers are also reopening their services. Pray for their health and safety and that of the people they serve. Pray for the correct cleaning and safety measures for all. Pray also for patience from their clients as extra precautions can often take extra time. Pray that they can remain open and not have to close back down.

A good verse to meditate on for Tour Drivers: “let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

Prayer Focus July 8 2020

Today we pray together for enthusiasm. During hard times where the whole world is focusing on the negatives it can be hard to see the positives. Pray for positive to shine through that we can be excited about and bring our enthusiasm back. Pray for God-given enthusiasm that is a light to others drawing them to Him. Pray for enthusiasm instead of negativity.

A good verse to meditate on for enthusiasm: “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.” Romans 12:11

Prayer Focus July 13 2020

Today let’s lift up Daycare Workers in prayer. An industry already burdened by many rules and regulations now having to bear even more to continue to serve and operate during these strange times. Pray for them to be able to serve in their jobs with a happy heart and for those that love the Lord to share His love with joy. Pray for their health and safety as they work with the children under their care.

A good verse to meditate on for Daycare Workers: “and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” Matthew 28:20

Prayer Focus July 7 2020

Today let’s lift up Campground Workers in prayer. Often a thankless job now with more demands as camping is one of the only “vacation” options available. Pray for their patience as the work long hours and have more jobs to do. Pray for their safety as they work in remote areas but yet interact with many people. Pray for peace as they go about their work.

A good verse to meditate on for Campground Workers: “Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.” John 6:27

Prayer Focus July 6 2020

Today we pray together for energy. Energy for those feeling like they’re constantly running at 200% to keep going. Energy for those who find more time on their hands to stay motivated and accomplishing things. Energy to make and enjoy intentional time with God in prayer and in His word. And energy to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

A good verse to meditate on for energy: “To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.” Colossians 1:29

Prayer Focus July 5 2020

Our Sunday Pray for the Nations today has us focusing on India. One of the countries hardest hit by COVID-19 cases, much due to a very dense population. Pray for the health, safety and resilience of its people and that their medical system can manage their sick.

Apart from COVID-19, we also pray for many to turn to the Lord, as about only 6% of the nation are Christians. Pray also for a stable, reliable and non-corrupt government system to lead them well. Also that the division of poor and rich would not be so prevalent, a by-product of the caste system that has been a large part of the country for much of its history. Pray the nation would continue to move more and more away from the castes and to a more peaceful and equal existence.
