On Sunday, June 3 a fire at parkland Place, 620 Dobson Rd. rendered 24 families without homes.  Immediately following the fire Emergency Preparedness set up a shelter at Island Savings Center for a few days.  Unfortunately most families affected didn’t carry insurance and have lost their belongings.  Everyone knows there is a serious housing rental shortage in the Cowichan Valley.  Since renovations are expected to take nearly a year to complete these people need to find new homes.  The Needs & Extras ministry at New Life have offered to help replace furniture and donations have been pouring in.
We’ve partnered with Hope Farm to store the furniture for the fire victims until they find new homes.  We have 2 big asks from you, our church family.

  1. Pray for the people who are enduring this hardship
  2. We need men and women willing to help pick up and deliver furniture.  Truck and Vans and SUV’s can all transport goods.

Please keep these displaced people in your hearts and think of them and how we as a church family can embrace their needs and help.  If you can help please email us at: office@newlifechurch.ca.

God Stories…

Every now and then a worthwhile opportunity presents itself. The Needs and Extras Ministry is one that gives pleasure, not just to the recipient but to all those involved.

When you stop by a person’s home with little in it and you’re there to deliver a couch and other furniture, it tugs at the heart strings, when the young lady is so happy she hugs you, what a feeling. When a six year old lad hugs your leg and helps you carry in a new mattress, a connection is made.

The team works together and is comprised of men and women of God. Praise the Lord.
